The course looks at analog signal ranges, digital protocols and formats, serial versus parallel interfaces, internal and external references and clocks, drivers and buffers, isolation, and filters--and how their choices affect overall signal-chain performance. The course will focus on tradeoffs and optimizing overall performance so the selected converter meets its potential in your application.

Touch control is replacing physical buttons, sliders, and wheels as the means for a human-machine interface (HMI). Some advantages to touch screen control is that it is both and input and output (saving separate keyboard and mouse for computer applications) and it has no moving parts making it less susceptible to mechanical stress and dust.
This course provides an introduction to capacitive touch technology, including theory and the use of a touch control evaluation kit.

To further the designer's understanding of the implications of this approach and its application, this Fundamentals of Electronics Course will start with an overview of analog signals and how they differ from their digital brethren. It will then take the viewer on a tour of the key elements of a sensor-based analog and digital signal and conditioning chain, will explain and analog-to-digital conversion basics and relevant terminology, and include a discussion of quantization and key programmable analog elements.

The basics principles of embedded system design and test haven't changed much down the years, but the signals, clocking rates, software overhead and overall system complexity certainly has. This course will take viewers through the basics of testing embedding systems, covering what to look for, where the 'gotchas' now lie and how and where signal interaction and crosstalk can throw your system off.

In particular, the course will look at serial and parallel communications buses and how to set up and use the latest features incorporated into today's test equipment, to perform full trigger and event data acquisition and analysis to help you find and eliminate even the most elusive of system bugs.

Double Data Rate memories DDRx have become new standards in
today's memory applications. This course describes fundamentals of DDR2 and DDR3 from a signal Integrity perspective. The main signal groups and their synchronism requirements are identified. Net topologies, trace impedances
and terminations play an important role in waveform integrity. Trace length, vias and cross talk play an important role in timing. The effect of these parameters is explained. In the course of a design, one would place constraints and
carry out PCB routing. However, post-route verification can become a tedious task. The Hyperlynx DDRx Batch mode capability combines a comprehensive signal integrity analysis with timing analysis. Its usage to optimize and validate a
DDRx implementation is presented.

The analog domain describes the way things typically work in the real world. By comparison, the digital domain is useful when it comes to storing and manipulating data and making complex decisions based on the results of its data-processing operations. Most people think of FPGAs as being primarily digital devices, but a certain class of mixed-signal FPGAs provide a mixture of programmable analog fabric combined with programmable digital fabric. This opens the door to a wide range of applications along with some very interesting techniques, such as using a soft microprocessor core in the digital fabric to reconfigure the programmable analog fabric on-the-fly.

A basic building block in power supply design, linear regulators provide an inexpensive, low noise, and easy-to-use solution for delivering the stable DC voltages needed to power the analog and digital electronics in applications of every type. Yet there's more to these devices than meets the eye - as many an unwary designer has found out. This course will offer designers - especially those working with digital circuits - an overview geared to help them better select and use these vital components.
While this area is maturing, different vendors have chosen different languages as their starting point and we will explore some of the tradeoffs that this makes.

Circuit boards are becoming more congested. At the same time, designers need to pass more data at higher bandwidths from chip-to-chip and board-to-board. The solution is to use high-speed serial interconnect which features high-speed serial transceiver (XCVR) functions embedded in devices like ASICs and FPGAs.
